Fixing my Sewing Disaster
So, I thought I'd make a quick top yesterday. Cashmerette Montrose I've made a few of these, they are comfy and go together quickly. The pattern fits me and so there would be no time spent on fitting. I've had this striped knit fabric in my stash for a few years, but only a yard of it. Just enough to make the front and back but not sleeves. I auditioned various fabrics for the sleeves and nothing working until ... the red lacy fabric. Not really lace, but VERY open. Here you can see it with the striped fabric But all that lacy openness presented a problem. A problem which I'm sure you've already guessed. How to cut the notch's or mark the sleeve center? Tailor tacks were my answer. Even that wasn't easy, as there was nothing to 'tack to'. I used some candlewicking thread and tied a bow around the two back sleeve notches.
