So, I thought I'd make a quick top yesterday.
Cashmerette Montrose I've made a few of these, they are comfy and go together quickly. The pattern fits me and so there would be no time spent on fitting.
I've had this striped knit fabric in my stash for a few years, but only a yard of it. Just enough to make the front and back but not sleeves. I auditioned various fabrics for the sleeves and nothing working until ... the red lacy fabric. Not really lace, but VERY open.

Here you can see it with the striped fabric

But all that lacy openness presented a problem. A problem which I'm sure you've already guessed. How to cut the notch's or mark the sleeve center?
Tailor tacks were my answer. Even that wasn't easy, as there was nothing to 'tack to'. I used some candlewicking thread and tied a bow around the two back sleeve notches. I tied a regular knot (loosely) around the center mark and the front sleeve notch.
It worked very well. As I sewed up to each tailor tack, I removed it. I didn't want to catch the thick thread in my seam and end up looking tacky.
So, very pleased with myself, I started to trim to seams and OMG - the worst happened. I cut the back of the shirt in a perfect V.
Now what? I couldn't believe I did that! So, I got to thinking about it and decided some fusible interfacing would do the trick. I chose a VERY lightweight fusible from
Fashion Sewing Supply They make the BEST interfacing there is. Forget that stuff you get at the big fabric store. It's nasty.

The good stuff! |

I cut a small square |
 |
This interfacing using 20 seconds of iron with steam. So I used a silk organza pressing sheet over the fabric. |
Then I looked at the right side and made a grrrrr noise!
 |
There was a slight separation on one side of the V |
 |
All gone! I totally cheated. I used a permanent marker in Indigo Blue and filled in the blue stripe.

If you know where to look and you look hard, you can find it. But as my Grandma used to say, "You'll never see it on a galloping horse."
Lol, and her legacy lives on. The
