I do love that new blog smell that comes with ... a new blog. I'll be sharing my sewing adventures and any other fun thing I decide to play with. On Wednesday (June 20) I took a road trip with two friends - we drove to Grants Pass, OR to visit Jordan Fabrics . They also have a ton of video tutorials . When I told Mr. S that we were going to drive for 3 hours to visit this store he thought it must be the BIGGEST store ever! I said I'd take a picture for him. From the door, looking at Jordan Fabrics. WOW! It's been a long time since I've been to a quilt shop. After a long time sewing and designing quilts, I went back to garment sewing. Making Buttonholes on Dark, Busy Fabric When You Have Vision Difficulties

 Wow, time flies! Seems like I just posted last week, but I guess not.  So, today I'm going to talk about buttonhole markings on a dark, very busy fabric.  I made a blouse that has buttons up the front and two buttons on the cuffs. Even just sewing  seams, or top stitching, I had a difficult time seeing it well. So, when it came to making the buttonholes, I was concerned.  Then the light bulb turned on, and I got out the washable stabilizer again. I think I'm going to have to buy more of it.  But before that, I have to share how my 'new' machine makes awesome buttonholes. I have always had trouble with buttonholes. The ends are not always even, the length is not always the same, even though I measure and mark.  I think the buttonhole maker is so cool, I even did a video. Vintage Patterns - Blogs of Interest

I love vintage patterns! One of my favorite blogs is A Few Loose Threads, and she is vintage pattern ga-ga! Recently she posted about the illustrations on the cover of patterns. The illustrations do seem to show you what's inside, but she found they do not do the pattern justice. See it Sewn is a new chapter on her blog. It's well worth a visit.
